Good Deeds Closet: Mission & Simple Rules

Illustrated rack of pre-loved children's clothing in warm TKN colors

BIG FEELINGS WELCOME · GOOD DEEDS CELEBRATED

Do good. Choose something good.

TKN Creative Resilience Foundation helps young people create, move, connect, and grow. The Good Deeds Closet invites children to make a difference in their community and then choose clean, pre-loved clothing they feel good wearing. Sharing clothing and showing care give every piece a new story.

One good deed leads to one clothing choice. During our first pilot, a child completes one TKN-approved deed and selects one available item.

How it works

  1. Choose a deed: A caregiver contacts TKN to agree on a safe activity that suits the child’s age and abilities.
  2. Complete it: The child takes part with appropriate adult support. The caregiver tells a TKN Guide when it is done; there is no score or public proof.
  3. Choose clothing: Browse the Good Deeds Closet together. The caregiver requests an item, and TKN confirms availability and pickup. The first pieces will appear as donations are sorted and photographed.

What kinds of deeds count?

Choose something useful, kind, and realistic. Activities should not cost a family money. A Guide can approve a comparable deed that suits a child’s abilities.

  • Ages 6–8: Make welcome cards or help sort supplies with an adult.
  • Ages 9–12: Pack community kits or join a supervised cleanup.
  • Ages 13–17: Help organize a donation drive or support younger participants in a supervised group setting.

Please confirm the activity with TKN before starting. Children do not need to communicate privately with TKN or participate without appropriate supervision.

Simple rules for everyone

  • Caregivers handle requests. A parent or caregiver arranges deeds, clothing selection, and pickup with a Guide.
  • One deed, one selection for the pilot. Item availability depends on sizes and donations.
  • Needs come first. If a child needs clothing now and cannot complete a deed, the caregiver can ask TKN directly. No hardship story is required.
  • Choose fairly. A message alone does not reserve an item; TKN confirms each request and may set item limits to share donations across families.
  • Donate wearable pieces. Please offer clean clothing in good condition, mention any flaws, and wait for drop-off confirmation.
  • Protect privacy. Do not send a child’s full name, diagnosis, personal story, or photo in an initial request. We arrange details privately with the caregiver.
